Veteran Ghanaian Gospel musician, Yaw Sarpong has been involved in a serious accident.
Mynewsghana.net has gathered that the accident happened at Dwaso Junction on the Kumasi stretch some few minutes ago.
An eyewitness told Ghana’s number one entertainment website—Zionfelix.net that the accident occurred after an over speeding truck trying to overtake another vehicle took over their lane—and in attempt to avoid a head-on collision, the car which the Gospel star was driving in got hit by a different vehicle.
Our source said the Gospel musician’s vehicle landed in a ditch after it was hit by the other vehicle.
We have gathered that occupants of the vehicle sustained minor injuries and they are receiving treatment at the Dwaso hospital.
Yaw Sarpong was in the vehicle with his backing vocalist, Maame Tiwaa and two other people. Zionfelix.net can confirm that they are doing fine as at the time of filing this report.
“Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.” (Hebrews 10:25)
“I don’t go to church anymore. They’re all hypocrites!” Tara said to Pastor Tim. On more than one occasion Pastor Tim had heard this sort of comment. He’d be first to agree the church is made up of people who were not perfect––neither was he for that matter. But each time Pastor Tim heard such comments, his heart would break because he knew the incredible value of doing life together with the body of Christ.
Pastor Tim had long ago learned how Satan uses people and circumstances to disappoint Christians to pull them away from the very people God would use to bless, train, and encourage them at church. But recognizing the enemy’s schemes did not ease the sorrow of his (or any pastor’s) heart for his people.
Maybe you don’t have issues with anyone at church; you’re just really busy on weekends doing other things––good things. Attending your kid’s soccer games, going on family getaways, and fixing stuff around the house are all “good things” but if they regularly take you away from church attendance, you would do well to realize you’re choosing the captivity of activity over what God says is more important.
Going to church is not about getting your attendance gold star, nor is it about gaining God’s favor for the week because you assembled together with His people. Church is not a place to go, rather it is a living body where God wants you to become a part––for your good and His glory. Let’s look at only 10 of many reasons to go to church––even when you don’t feel like it.

1. To Hear the Preaching of the Word
If the word of God is quick, powerful, and sharper than a sword (Hebrews 4:12), then hearing the preaching of Scripture is vital to your spiritual well-being. Watching preachers on TV is often how people justify giving up on church attendance.* They may be listening to good preaching (if they’re discerning), but without living in close fellowship with real people, one can never really experience the help and hope Christ offers His bride through faithful involvement in a local church.
These days people are more accustomed to getting their information through entertainment, so sadly more and more preachers are replacing preaching with drama, skits, videos, etc. While our culture craves entertainment, God never instructed His ministers to entertain the troops. Rather He commanded them to preach Truth with urgency. It is through the preaching of sound doctrine that the Word of God:
Penetrates hearts and transforms lives
Calls sinners to repentance
Encourages the downtrodden
Inspires the Lord’s servants to love and serve Christ
Lights the way God would have you go
When facing certain death, the Apostle Paul revealed the importance of preaching with this final instruction to Timothy: “Preach the word; be urgent in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine” (2 Timothy 4:2).
*Please note if you are physically unable to attend church, watching it on television or online is a wonderful resource. Especially if the church where you are a member streams it’s sermons weekly. This allows you to stay in communion with your church family, learning what they are learning, and growing as they grow.
Worshiping God alone is wonderful, but nothing can replace the beauty of coming together corporately to worship Him with others who also have His Spirit in them through the redeeming work of salvation.
Jesus said those who worship must worship in Spirit and in Truth (John 4:24). In order to truly worship God the way He demands requires some soul searching. All too often, people think worship is rooted in feeling like they’ve been with God. So they flock to churches that help them muster up those feelings. Sadly, if the church doesn’t continue to create an environment that stirs their emotions, many move on to find another church––or worse yet stop attending altogether.
Realize that worshiping God comes as a response to our humble gratitude for His love for us. Knowing God and His character as revealed in Scripture will stir in His children a heart of thankfulness that is expressed in worship that brings Him glory––rather than a self-serving emotional experience. The Spirit causes true worshipers to long to come together with other believers to honor Christ. If God’s Spirit does not stir in you a desire to worship God both privately and corporately, it’s time to ask Him to show you why. For more insights read: How to Breathe New Life into Worship.
That is what Proverbs 27:17 tells us. Meeting regularly with other believers is a source of encouragement and strength. But know this: when iron rubs against iron, not only does it become sharper, it also causes sparks! It’s just part of the process.
Jesus said, “Out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks” (Matthew 12:34). When you live in community with other Christians you will get bumped. And what spills out of you is what’s in your heart. God uses our interactions with others to show us the areas He would have us repent and turn to reflect more the image of His Son. Working alongside Christians in a church fellowship is a wonderful way to grow your love for God and for others. And it is also God’s way of showing you areas He wants to mature your walk with Christ.
If you’ve stopped attending church because people hurt you, didn’t measure up to your expectations, or are hypocritical, know that the enemy has you right where he wants you. Satan’s tactic is to divide and conquer. If he can pull you from the flock, you are vulnerable to his deceptions and attacks. Satan will use your lack of love for God’s people to quench your love for God. If in response to the offenses of others you’ve wondered away from Christ, check out this helpful article: How to Find Your Way Back to Christ.
From preaching to encouraging, hospitality to administration, God equips His children with gifts to serve Christ. (See 1 Corinthians 12 and Romans 12:6). When a church body is healthy, its members realize they are part of the congregation not only to receive but also to be a blessing.
Statistics reveal that in most churches, 20 percent of the people do 80 percent of the work. This is not to guilt you into “getting involved” at your church, rather it is to inspire you. Imagine, God has supernaturally gifted you so that He can glorify Himself through you as you serve Christ (Ephesians 2:10).
Many see work happening at church and think, They really don’t need me. Don’t be deceived. A well running ministry may appear to have all its bases covered––and it might. But if you look closely you’ll discover many individuals who are doing more work than they’d like simply because today, just as in Jesus’ day, “the harvest is truly great but the workers are few; therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send forth laborers…” (Luke 10:2). Your willingness to minister in your church with what God has gifted you is likely the answer to someone’s prayer for God to send more workers to help with the harvest.
The pastor’s heart of the Apostle Paul comes through when he says, “I thank my God in all my remembrance of you, always in every prayer of mine for you all making my prayer with joy because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now… And it is right for me to feel this way about you all for I hold you in my heart” (see Philippians 1:3-7). Can’t you just hear Paul’s affection for these precious people who partnered with him in spreading the glorious gospel of grace?
In the same way, when you become a partner in ministry with your pastor you bring joy to his heart, grow his love for you, and cause him to joyfully thank God for your faithful service to Christ.
In the church you’ll discover many people who have walked the road ahead of you. Their wisdom, insights, and even vulnerability to teach you from their mistakes is one way God provides to help you grow. Titus chapter 2 is a great place to learn how much God values mentorship. It is His plan for the older men and women to come alongside of the younger to train them in godliness, and guide them toward building a life of no regrets.
When I was newly married I knew I wasn’t the kind of wife I was meant to be, so I looked to women in our church whose marriages I wanted to emulate. And when I wanted to learn how to be a better mom, again I asked mothers in our church for help. “I can honestly say that my friendships with these women is what God used to mold me into the woman, wife and mother He wanted me to be” (Moms Raising Sons to Be Men).
And not only is the church a wonderful place to find amazing mentors, it is also the place God wants to use you to mentor someone else. With one eye looking to godly older women for guidance, and your other eye on who God might want you to mentor, don’t be surprised at the opportunities He will give you. “No eye has seen, nor ear heard, nor the heart of man imagined, what God has prepared for those who love Him” (1 Corinthians 2:9).
In 18 years as a youth pastor’s wife, many times parents would drop off their student asking us to “fix them.” Often the parents grew up in church but walked away after they grew up. Most never really had a relationship with Jesus. However, when their own kids were at risk, it was to the church they often returned. But they usually didn’t come themselves. Rather, they dropped their kids off in hopes the “good” would rub off on them.
If you want to teach your kids to love God, they need to see that you love God. And if you want them to learn to love God’s people, they have to observe you loving God’s people. Luke 6:40 says the student will become like his teacher. Notice Jesus didn’t say the student will become as the teacher teaches him to be, rather he will be like his teacher. In her new book Caught Not Taught author Julie Rupp says, “Our children will learn more about faith from watching us live out our own faith journey… than from us telling them about God.”
Jesus said the world will know we are His disciples by our love for one another, so of course Satan wants to destroy any sense of love and community in the body of Christ. When you commit to loving God and loving others, the light shining from your Christ-honoring love is what the Spirit can use to draw others to know Jesus.
Everyone is looking for acceptance and a place to belong. Whether people admit it or not, they all long to be known and loved for who they are. When God’s people commit to fiercely love each other by covering sins with love and readily forgiving each other, their love will be a light that shines brightly in a crooked and perverse generation. Let it begin with you.
Galatians 6:2 teaches us to bear each other’s burdens to fulfill the law of Christ. Life can be hard, right? In a moment everything can change. Just when things are going great, a phone call, diagnosis, or a host of other mishaps can leave you feeling afraid and alone. But to those who are a part of a church family never feel alone. When life is going great, they have the affirmation of others. And when life throws a curve, they’re blessed by loving concern, support, and prayer.
My heart goes out to those who we’ve seen come to church when life is hard and then when their needs are met, they fall away again––only to come back when there’s another next disaster. While we are happy to help them, we know the real help they need is a genuine relationship with Jesus and His people. If you’re accustomed to only going to church when you have a need, why don’t you try going when you’re doing okay? Maybe God will use you to be an encouragement to others who are looking for help. And if you want to know how to have a genuine relationship with Jesus watch this video.
Hebrews 10:25 says, “Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.” I don’t think the writer of Hebrews could make any more clear God’s desire to have you regularly assemble together with His people. Realize that God wanting you to regularly attend church is for your good. He wants you, and His people, to exhort one another especially as the days grow darker and the time of Christ’s return approaches.
Think of the underground church in other countries. I remember one man from China explaining how they had to sing hymns no louder than a whisper for fear they would be discovered. Discovery would mean physical abuse, their children and possessions seized, and imprisonment––yet still they met together. Their story should stir our hearts to see the value and incredible privilege we have to meet openly together to worship God and hear the preaching of the Word.
Oh, that God would capture our hearts in a new and fresh way. I pray His Spirit stirs in us a zeal and commitment to meet together with God’s people to praise Him, love others, and shine brightly the hope of Christ to a generation who is desperate to believe that what we say we believe is true––is in fact true.

The Fiaga of the Aflao Traditional Area in the Volta Region, Togbuiga Amenya Fiti V testifying
The Paramount Chief of the Aflao Traditional Area in the Volta Region, Togbuiga Amenya Fiti V, has testified about how Bishop Charles Agyinasare prayed for the rains to stop in Aflao during one of his crusades in the area some years ago.
The Fiaga of the Aflao Traditional Area in the Volta Region, Togbuiga Amenya Fiti V testifying
Worshipping at the Perez Dome, Dzorwulu, Accra, with a whole contingent of traditional leaders on Sunday, 26 January 20120, Togbuiga Amenya Fiti V said it was “a great honour for me and a great blessing to be here on the altar of blessings and hope”.
He told the congregation that Bishop Agyinasare “is my best friend, my brother and my godfather”, adding: “I have been planning to come here for many years but today, I’m here”.
SP Hukportie, Fiator (Father of kings and queens and the entire family) of the Avoeme-Aflao Traditional Area’s Senior Right Wing Division being annointed by Bishop Charles Agyinasare.
The traditional leader then testified to the glory of God about how the founder of Perez Chapel International commanded the rains to stop when the deluge began during a crusade in Aflao.
Togbuiga Amenya Fiti V’s testimony was thus:
Bishop was in Aflao for a crusade – a very big crusade, indeed. He came to the palace that afternoon; actually, I was very sick and my elders informed him that according to tradition, he can’t see me. He left and he came again, demanding to see me. So, they allowed him to come in. I was in bed with drips and other things on me – he was then very young, not with a [grey beard] – and he told me: ‘Togbui, why are you in bed? You are so young to be in bed; no, you’re not sick, get up; I have a vision for you! This man told me: ‘Togbui, you have to rescue this community, I have a vision that you’ll be one of the greatest kings in Ghana’. And, today, my name is everywhere: [in] every corner of the world; not only in Ghana. I’m now the Vice-President of the Forum of Kings and Traditional Leaders of Africa. I said: ‘Why is this man telling me to remove my drips and come for a crusade, why?’ I refused to go the first day [and] the second day; the third day, I went. And the last day I went in for the final crusade, ladies and gentlemen, it is very easy to pray for the rain to fall, but to stop the rain, it is not easy. The whole community was praying for rainfall for more than eight months; there wasn’t any rainfall. And that day, that fateful night, the rain was coming and I said: ‘Hey, my friend, the rain will destroy your crusade’. Then this man stood up; he said: ‘Togbui, let me beg your people, I know they are looking for rainfall but I’m praying for God to close the gates of [heaven]. He prayed for the rain not to fall and immediately after the crusade, the rain will fall; and really, it did. It wasn’t rainfall – water [was] coming from heaven for more than four hours. So, if somebody can just command or appeal to the Almighty Father to stop the rain, [then] I’m just here to allow him to conjure some blessings on me. I’ve been looking for the opportunity to take my own rainfall, and since then, we have been communicating; he’ll call me early in the morning and pray for me, call me in the evening and pray for me. I’m a member of this congregation. So, I’m here again to thank the congregation for giving my brother that needed support for the church to grow from strength to strength. He’s not in charge, it’s the Almighty Father who is in charge. Thank you very much.
After Togbuiga’s testimony, Bishop Agyinasare anointed him with oil and prayed for long life for the President of the Aflao Traditional Council.
“Father, we commit your servant into your hands, You called him at such a time as this; like you used Solomon, use him; like you used David, use him; protect him, protect his family, give him strength, health, physical vital like never before in Jesus’ name; take authority over every spirit of premature death; until he has finished his work, let him not step out in Jesus’ name, we call it done. Amen.
Togbui Amenya Fiti V’s contingent with whom he worshipped at the Perez Dome included SP Hukportie, who was recently made the Fiator (Father of kings and queens and the entire family) of the Avoeme-Aflao Traditional Area’s Senior Right Wing Division; Togbui Anubo IV, Dufiaga of Chief of Avoeme and Senior Right Wing Chief of the Aflao Traditional Area; Togbui Sedo Avoryi, Ewe Chief of Akyim Abuakwa Osiem; Nana Asumkaheema Owusua Sedo, Akyim Abuakwa Osiem; Mama Dunenyo IV, Sohefiaga of Abutia; Nana Afia Dakwaah, Akomu Obaapanin of Dunkwaw Kyekyere; and Nana Aminsimakese III, Oheema of Asebu Amantsindo and Gyaasehema of Asebu Traditional Area.
The others are Nana Esi Fiyemaa Baafua I, Gomoa Adzintem Mankrado heema; Nana Akwaboah Nyankomaa I, Odompo Odzikro heema; and Mama Aku Seme II, Queen mother of Mepe Avetakpor.
Bishop Charles Agyinasare has cautioned Christians to be wary of people close to them because they can be the very people who turn to sell them out.
Preaching on the topic: “Dealing with Household Enemies,” on Sunday, 5 January 2020, the founder of Perez Chapel International said household enemies are usually people “close to you” and “know your secret”.
“Normally, when we talk of household enemies, we are also talking about people in the same family or office or group who relate with you. So, it’s not just your biological family but the group you belong to etc. Out of there, you can have your household enemies. Most of the time, they are those who are close to you, they want what you have but they don’t get it through the right way, they don’t want it the right way,” he stated.
Using a picture of General Kotoka smiling at Dr Kwame Nkrumah to buttress his point, Bishop Agyinasare said Kotoka led a coup to overthrow Nkrumah just a day after smiling with him at the airport when Dr Nkrumah was leaving Ghana for Hanoi.
“I can also tell you of different instances where you will see pictures of either a head of state inspecting a parade and the people helping him inspect the parade, the following month or two, did a coup against him.
“So, household enemies are normally people who know you, they know your secret, they know your strength, they know your weaknesses and they are ready to sell you out.”
Quoting Genesis Chapter 4:3 – 5, Bishop Agyinasare said Cain killed his brother, Abel, because he could not stand his sacrifice.
“There are people in the same church with you, they can’t stand your commitment to God, even your spouse may not be able to stand even your giving to God. At times, your children or your parents may not be able to stand your sacrifice to God. When that happens, what they have become is your household enemies…,” he added.
Citing a personal experience, Bishop Agyinasare recounted: “When I got saved, after two months, I was privileged to go and live in a mission house and we used to have these pastors come from the regions to the mission house for their conferences and, one day, many pastors had come and I was pounding fufu for them and my hand was blistered. Then one of the deaconesses in the church said: ‘Look at you Charles, because you want to become a pastor, see how you’re killing yourself’, and I felt grieved because her children were not doing anything in the church and here I was doing it and I wasn’t doing it because I wanted to be a pastor and she wanted me to stop. So, I stopped for a few minutes and the Holy Ghost reminded me of a few things, then I said: ‘I will still do it’ and there are people who will not appreciate your sacrifice, they will want to stop your sacrifice but may nothing be able to stop your sacrifice.”
Bishop Charles Agyinasare of Perez Chapel International
Any man who slaps or insults the wife is a “cheap” and “weak” husband, Bishop Charles Agyinasare has condemned.
“Your wife offended you, you can’t forgive her; ‘I’ll show her where power lies’. And some weak men, your wife misses her words, you slap her; you’re a weak man.
“You say: ‘I’ll show her where strength lies’. Your strength is not in slapping your wife; if you slap your wife, you’re a weak man”, the Senior pastor at Perez Chapel International admonished the congregation during the second service on Sunday, 19 January 2020 at the Perez Dome, Dzorwulu.
He said a husband’s strength is not measured by how mercilessly he can pummel his wife to a pulp but in how he can still show love and affection even in the face of marital adversity.
“You’re strong when your wife has insulted you and you look at her and you can put your hands in your pocket and say: ‘Look, you can say whatever you like but I still love you’; that is when you are strong”, he taught the church, adding: “A strong man doesn’t beat the wife, so, stop being that cheap man; only cheap men beat their wives. Only cheap men”.
Apart from physical assault, Bishop Agyinasare also condemned husbands who hurl insults at their wives.
“Your wife insulted you, so, you, too, you’re insulting your wife: ‘You are smelling’. A man, you’re insulting your wife that she’s smelling. Shame on you! I said what: ‘Shame on you!’ You don’t tell your wife that; you honour your wife, you respect her”.
“She’s smelling and you want to [make love to her]”, he wondered.
The Chairman of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Eric Nyamekye, has said that the church is to become a beautiful bride without spot or wrinkle to be presented to the Bridegroom, who is Christ.
Apostle Eric Nyamekye
He explained that the church, like any other establishment, has a goal, however, the purpose must not be mistaken for a goal. According to him, the purpose of a thing is the reason for which that thing was established. That is, the goal is the end result or the terminal point of that thing.
“The purpose of the church is to possess the nations, but our goal is to become a radiant church without blemish to be presented unto Christ our Lord,” he expounded.
The Chairman said this on Thursday, January 23, 2020, at 7th edition of the Ministers and Wives’ Conference ongoing at the Pentecost Convention Centre (PCC) in Gomoa Fetteh near Kasoa.
Speaking on the topic; “A Glorious Church to Possess the Nations,” Apostle Nyamekye noted that “the church has become very programme-packed and activity-oriented and this, if not checked, could cause the church to lose focus on her goal.”
He added that programmes and activities organised by the church are there to aid the process of achieving the goal, but they are not the goal of the church. “Let us not lose focus, let us keep in mind our goal, our end, which is to become a Glorious Church to be presented unto Christ,” he advised.
In his presentation, the Chairman touched on two vital areas that will help the Church realise its goal; the moral purity of the Church and the doctrinal purity of the Church.
Speaking on moral purity, Apostle Nyamekye posited that the Glorious Church must have two attributes; Agathos (morally and ethically good) and Kalos (aesthetically and beautifully good).
Reading from 2 Chronicles 22:5-7, the Chairman explained that David instructed Solomon to build a church that would have great magnificence, fame and splendour, in the sight of all the people.
“Implying that the Church must be beautiful on the outside and must demonstrate the loving character of Christ so that the watching world will look on and testify that indeed Christ was sent from God to redeem the world unto Himself and the Father,” he opined. (John 13:34).
He further expounded that the Church must have moral and ethical beauty. Reading from Ephesians 4:11-13, Apostle Nyamekye noted that “we all form part of the Church, no one person is the whole, but a part, as such, we must endeavour to live holy lives so that the end of the Church will be blameless, spotless and without any wrinkle.”
“Every leader is called to form a part of the body of Christ, which is the Church, and to mature into the fullness of Christ Himself; therefore, a crooked person cannot be part of this ministry,” he reiterated.
Touching on doctrinal purity, the Chairman stressed that the Church is a treasured property of Christ and must be protected from all false teachings and diabolic doctrines that may sway the Church away from the love of Christ. He, therefore, admonished all church leaders to make conscious efforts to present the unadulterated word of God to the church.
He added that “with great zeal and godly jealously fight against every false teaching and evil doctrine that may be spreading among the members so that we will not lose the cherished treasure of Christ, which is His bride, the Church.”
“The goal of the Church is to become a beautiful, radiant bride without wrinkle, a Glorious Church, if we miss this goal, we ran the risk of running in vain,” he concluded.
Two people are dead and one person is in critical condition following a shooting in Texas. The shooting was reported about 10am at the West Freeway Church of Christ in White Settlement, near Fort Worth. One person was pronounced dead at the scene while another died on the way to hospital.
Christians have been urged not to be afraid of death because it marks an important transition in their lives.
Reverend Lawrence Kwesi Tete, Minister in charge of Presbyterian Church of Ghana (PCG) Grace Congregation at Tema Community 11, said it was surprising how Christians fear death even though they wanted to go to heaven.
Rev Tete in a sermon on the first Sunday of 2020, said because people were afraid of death, prophecies that had to do with death always scared them adding, most Africans believed that other powers were working in the realms against humanity.
According to him, “some people believe in the use of juju and other magical powers so immediately they hear of death, they are afraid and begin to run helter-skelter”.
He urged the public especially, Christians to believe in God and pray when such people prophesy death on them, asking them to also be charitable, cheerful and observe the tenets of the Christian religion.
He reminded them of Apostle Paul who knew very well that death was part of the Christian life and declared that when he lived he lives for Christ and if he died he died for Christ.
He noted that if Christians and the people who believed in God would do what was right and build a personal relationship with God, no one would be afraid of death.
He added that some people die due to natural circumstances, others also die from natural disasters that could have been prevented and some also die as a result of curses.
“Where people are taken to shrines to be killed and these are deaths which could be termed as premature deaths and therefore Christians could pray against it, ” he said.
He urged Christians to be assured of God’s redemptive power as they fought for their personal salvation so that when death came anytime, they would have confidence that they would be going to heaven.

Founding President of Young Achievers Ministries International, Enock Mensah
Founding President of Young Achievers Ministries International, C.E.O of Achievers Print, General Secretary and Director for Media and Publicity at Youth-on-Fire School of Ministry, Enock Mensah has said, he has been hearing many Christians and men of God praying to kill their enemies in their prayers.
He said, going through the Bible, he realized it’s wrong to pray and kill your enemies, and that God doesn’t answer such prayers. God answering such prayers will mean, going against His (God’s) will.
He said, the bible gives us a clear intention of God over sinners. He wants them to be saved. Jesus said, there is more joy over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine just persons.
He quoted Luke 15:7 I say to you that likewise there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine just persons who need no repentance. He said, according to him, if there is joy in heaven when one sinner repents, then there will be sadness in heaven when one sinner dies.
We see Jesus, how He responded to a man who was possessed with evil spirits according to
Mark 5:1-14 Then they came to the other side of the sea, to the country of the Gadarenes. And when He had come out of the boat, immediately there met Him out of the tombs a man with an unclean spirit, who had his dwelling among the tombs; and no one could bind him, not even with chains, because he had often been bound with shackles and chains. And the chains had been pulled apart by him, and the shackles broken in pieces; neither could anyone tame him. And always, night and day, he was in the mountains and in the tombs, crying out and cutting himself with stones. When he saw Jesus from afar, he ran and worshiped Him. And he cried out with a loud voice and said, “What have I to do with You, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? I implore you by God that you do not torment me.” He said to him, “Come out of the man, unclean spirit!” Then He asked him, “What is your name?” And he answered, saying, “My name is Legion; for we are many.” Also, he begged Him earnestly that He would not send them out of the country. Now a large herd of swine was feeding there near the mountains. So all the demons begged Him, saying, “Send us to the swine, that we may enter them.” And at once Jesus gave them permission. Then the unclean spirits went out and entered the swine (there were about two thousand), and the herd ran violently down the steep place into the sea and drowned in the sea. So those who fed the swine fled, and they told it in the city and in the country. And they went out to see what it was that had happened.
He said this was a man who was possessed by demons. Jesus asked his name and he said he is called LEGION.
He said Legion from the Easton’s Bible Dictionary means A regiment of the Roman army, the number of men composing which differed at different times. It originally consisted of three thousand men, but in the time of Christ consisted of six thousand, exclusive of horsemen, who were in number a tenth of the foot-men.
So the man was possessed by six thousand men (6000) – demons. He had the ability to break chains because of the demons in him. He said, Jesus could have invoked a curse or cause him to die because he believes the man had caused a lot of harm, in other words, he was a nuisance to the town yet Jesus saved him and the man began to proclaim to Decapolis which means ten (10) cities.
He said, everything shows that God wants every man to be saved because hell was not made for humans. Killing people who are possessed means sending them to hell. Instead of killing them, pray that they repent and receive salvation.
ANY PASTOR OR CHURCH MEMBER WHO PRAY TO KILL SINNERS IS OBVIOUS THAT THEY DON’T PRAY FOR SINNERS FOR THE SALVATION OF THEIR SOUL AND THAT THEY ARE AGAINST THE PURPOSE OF THE COMING OF CHRIST.
He said, in the days of Jesus, they were denied of entering a town (Samaritan village) to preach, James and John who were called the Boanerges which means sons of thunder asked Jesus
It’s obvious the reason Jesus came was to seek and to save the sinners. Jesus could have allowed the two disciples or call down fire Himself, but He didn’t because He came to save them.
